Survey: Educational experiences rate well against peer schools
UGA first-year students and seniors generally give more positive evaluations of their educational experience than students at peer institutions, according to the results of the latest National Survey of Student Engagement.

Eckerd College president, arts advocate will address grads at fall commencement exercises
Donald R. Eastman, president of Eckerd College in Florida and formerly a vice president at UGA, will be the speaker for fall semester undergraduate commencement Dec. 19 at 9:30 a.m. in Stegeman Coliseum.
Compliance team members at work on reaccreditation efforts
Members of a key committee are currently at work to assure that UGA is in compliance with various requirements as the university undertakes the lengthy process of seeking reaffirmation of its accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
‘100 Yards for 100 Years’: Band launches public campaign for practice complex
UGA’s Redcoat Marching Band has launched the public phase of its $2.5 million fundraising campaign to help finance the new Redcoat Practice Complex, a multi-part facility already in construction at the intramural fields off College Station Road.
Staff Council opposes possible language change to retirement plan
At its Nov. 5 meeting, Staff Council voted to send a letter to the board of trustees for the Teachers Retirement System of Georgia opposing a possible change to the retirement plan affecting UGA faculty and staff and teachers across the state of Georgia.
Disease symposium will cover outbreak likelihood, preparation
Deadly disease outbreaks that could threaten public safety and how the university and the government are preparing to handle them will be the topics of a campus symposium Nov. 21.
Five finalists named for music school directorship
Five finalists have been named for the directorship of the Hugh Hodgson School of Music in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences.
Undergraduate researchers reap benefits of CURO apprentice program
Every Monday afternoon, a group of UGA freshmen and sophomores gathers to discuss the latest trends in research pedagogy or listen to guest lecturers discuss their academic interests.
Rethink Refuse
Volunteers with the Students for Environmental Awareness and the UGA Physical Plant sorted through the Miller Learning Center garbage to determine how much recycling gets thrown into the trash. They found that about 60 percent of the center’s garbage could be recycled.
