Grant will grow state’s blueberry business
Blueberries are becoming big business in Georgia. UGA experts plan to use a $1.7 million U.S. Department of Agriculture Specialty Crop Research Initiative grant to lead an effort to make the Southeast the leading producer of the fruit.

Dooley complex to be dedicated Nov. 29
The university will dedicate the Vince Dooley Athletic Complex on Nov. 29 at 9:30 a.m., before UGA’s football game with Georgia Tech. The ceremony will be held in the Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall and will be followed by a ribbon cutting for the complex and an unveiling of a statue depicting a victorious Dooley being hoisted on the shoulders of players from his 1980 national championship team.
New certificate program helps better prepare academic advisers

Georgia Center staffer fired up about volunteering with American Red Cross
Every time Jann Moore hears a fire truck’s siren, her heart races.

Moore, a human resources manager at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center and Hotel, volunteers with the East Georgia chapter of the American Red Cross and has witnessed firsthand the devastation a fire can cause. She’s seen families in shock after watching all their possessions go up in flames and has been there to lend a helping hand—or phone call as the case may be.
Judicial training program celebrates 10th anniversary
The School of Law’s International Judicial Training Program will celebrate its 10th anniversary in December with 50 members from the Brazilian judiciary and two from the Argentine judiciary arriving to be trained in the workings of the U.S. legal system.
