1998-1999 On Stage
Season tickets are still available for the many cultural arts series at UGA. There are too many to list here, but highlights include:

University Theatre
Season subscription $45. All performances at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. 542-2836.
Arcadia. Oct. 7-9, 14-16. Fine Arts Theater. $10.
All in the Timing. Nov. 11-14, 17-20;?Dec. 1-5. Cellar Theater. $10.
The Gospel at Colonus. Feb. 11-13, 18-20. Fine Arts Theater. $12.
Kaspar. April 15-17, 20-24. Cellar Theater. $10.
In addition, Georgia Repertory Theatre returns this year, with a new play and a professional cast. Performances are scheduled for March 25-27 and March 31-April 3 at the Seney-Stovall Chapel. Play and director will be announced later this year.


Second Thursday Concert Series

Performing Arts Center
Six series return from last year: Music I and II, Sampler, Showtime, Dance Festival and Ramsey Concert Hall series. In addition, a new series called Traditions offers music and dance from other cultures and eras.
Subscriptions for a single series range from $52 for the four recitals in the Ramsey Concert Hall Series to $127 for orchestra seats in Music Series I or II. Tickets to individual performances are also available, for $16-$39, depending on performer and seat location. The box office, open Monday through Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and two hours before performances, may be reached at 542-4400.
The special event of the season, not included in any series, is a performance by the acclaimed St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra on Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. in Hodgson Hall. Yuri Temirkanov will conduct; the program includes Mozart’s Piano Concerto K. 466 and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5. Members of the orchestra will join the audience at a post-concert reception. Tickets are $45-$75.
Several other Russian artists will appear this year: the Chorovaya Akademia (male?a cappella choir from Moscow) on Feb. 27; the Moiseyev Dance Company on Jan. 31; and the Trio Voronezh on Feb. 26.
The Atlanta Symphony will be back for two concerts (Sept. 27 and May 2) and the Atlanta Ballet will perform April 16. The award-winning female a cappella vocal group Anonymous 4 is scheduled for March 26; Ramsey Lewis and Billy Taylor will offer duo jazz piano on April 10. Soprano Catherine Malfitano will perform muxic by Gershwin, Weill, Bolcom and Poulenc on Oct. 11.
Pre-concert lectures will be offered preceding 16 of this year’s performances.

Other events to watch for
The Georgia Museum of Art is celebrating its fiftieth year with a full schedule of exhibitions and events, including a major exhibition of works by Rembrandt beginning Nov. 7 and several related exhibitions and lectures.
Camille Paglia, pop culture enthusiast and anti-feminist, will speak in Georgia Hall of the Tate Student Center at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 24. Tickets are $2.
Comedian Bill Cosby performs Oct. 16 at 8 p.m. in Stegeman Coliseum as part of Homecoming. Ticket sales begin Aug. 29 ($20-$35). 542-6396.
Kurt Vonnegut speaks Oct. 28 in Georgia Hall; tickets are $4.
