Record achievement: Art Rosenbaum, professor emeritus of art receives two Grammy nominations
It’s already been a record year for Art Rosenbaum.

The professor emeritus of art in UGA’s Lamar Dodd School of Art is among the nominees for a 2009 Grammy Award.

University, CDC form partnership to study human health threats
UGA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have launched a collaboration focusing on understanding and controlling threats to human health. Scientists from the two institutions will conduct joint studies on rabies, malaria, tick-borne diseases, avian influenza and measles.
Grady College launches drive to raise $100 million
The Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication has officially launched its $100 million “Centennial Campaign for Grady: Democracy’s Next Generation.”
University community set to take part in state tornado drill
UGA will participate in a campus-wide tornado drill on Feb. 4 as part of the state of Georgia’s Severe Weather Awareness Week. A previously planned test of UGAAlert was canceled as a result of the Jan. 16 activation.
Teaching certificate program preps grad students for careers in academia
Every little advantage helps as new graduates venture into the uncertain world of employment, especially given the current economy. Administrators at the Graduate School are well aware of the high stakes job search that graduates face and believe that the Interdisciplinary Certificate in University Teaching can offer just the competitive edge for graduate students hoping to join the faculty ranks after graduation.
Nominations sought for 2009-2010 Administrative Fellowships
Senior administrators and deans of all UGA schools and colleges are invited to nominate individuals for the Administrative Fellows Program, which provides a unique opportunity for faculty to work closely with select senior administrators at the university to gain knowledge and experience in the area of academic leadership.
Honors student chosen for EXROP summer internship
Opeoluwa Fawole, a sophomore microbiology major, has been selected to participate in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Exceptional Research Opportunities Program this summer. Fawole, an Honors student from Lawrenceville, is the first UGA student to receive this honor.
Guardians of fairness: EOO works to ensure that members of UGA community are treated equally
The folks at the Equal Opportunity Office are university gatekeepers, but not the kind that keep people out. Their job is to make sure the gate stays wide open.
Music professor becomes editor of only magazine for piano teachers in the U.S.
UGA has just become a central location for piano teachers. Peter Jutras, an assistant professor in the Hugh Hodgson School of Music, has been named editor-in-chief of Clavier Companion, the only independent magazine serving piano teachers across the U.S.
