NIH grant will be used to train health scientists in Uganda
Christopher Whalen, professor of epidemiology in UGA’s College of Public Health, has received a $1.1 million grant to develop a program to help train Ugandan health scientists in public health or health services research.

Championship seasons
The UGA gymnastics team won its fifth straight and 10th overall national championship April 17 in Lincoln, Neb. and the equestrian team won its second consecutive overall national title at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships in Waco, Texas.
U.S. district judge will speak at School of Law’s spring graduation ceremony
Judge Lisa Godbey Wood of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia will deliver the keynote address at the School of Law’s Commencement ceremony May 16.
Mary Virginia Terry will receive honorary degree at Commencement
UGA will award an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree to Mary Virginia Terry, who for more than half a century has provided support that has helped the university strengthen its academic and research programs and build new athletic facilities.
