Young Dawg work sites needed
The Young Dawgs Program, coordinated by Human Resources, is in need of university work sites to place 50 local high school students in unpaid internships from 8 a.m.–noon Mondays to Thursdays running June 8-July 15.

The students primarily would be rising high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors.

Young Dawg interns participate in a rigorous application process prior to placement, including meeting academic criteria and interviewing with prospective supervisors.

The goals of the program include improving the local graduation rate, preparing a workforce for UGA, recruiting potential students for UGA and providing high school students with broader opportunities within their career interests.

To host an intern or receive additional information, contact Jim Geiser, jgeiser@uga.edu or (706) 542-7341, or Kim Eberhart, (706) 542-6077 or keber@uga.edu.

Outdoor watering restrictions
In response to relaxed watering restrictions by Athens-Clarke County, UGA will make the following operational changes in regard to outdoor water use:
1. Campus landscape irrigation will resume on a schedule compliant with the new regulations.
2. Vehicle washing will resume at scheduled maintenance intervals in order to preserve existing vehicle finishes.
3. Pressure washing of campus structures will resume in cases where exterior washing will extend the life of structures.

Recent modifications have been made to two campus fountains which allow them to operate through the use of air conditioning condensate and well water. These fountains will continue to operate on non-potable water.

Questions may be directed to Ken Crowe, director of energy services, at (706) 542-7493 or kbcrowe@uga.edu.
