Budget Update
UGA President Michael F. Adams will provide a full overview of the budget situation for the campus Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. in the Tate Student Center Theater. Open to the public, the briefing also will be available on the UGA home page at www.uga.edu and on University Cable Channel 15.

Four finalists named in provost search
A search committee has recommended four finalists for the position of senior vice president for academic affairs and provost.
Incoming: More than 4,700 new freshmen, 1,600 transfer students enroll at UGA this fall
UGA expects to enroll more than 6,300 new undergraduate students this fall, including just over 4,700 new freshmen and 1,600 new transfer students. Approximately 680 of the new students began their studies during the summer and almost 5,700 will begin classes today.
M.B.A. program ranked for its high return on investment
UGA’s Terry College of Business made a list of the top 75 schools that give M.B.A. students the highest return on their investment in a graduate business degree.
Tate expansion, Greek Park to be dedicated
The university will officially open the Tate Student Center expansion and the Greek Park this week.
Improvements, changes to current MyID processes take effect Sept. 1
Beginning Sept. 1, current MyID owners who need to change their password, as well as those requesting a MyID for the first time, will see a new, improved process—one that no longer requires use of Social Security numbers for identification.
Staff Council to focus on child care, shared leave, wages
When the university budget is tight, it’s important that staff voices be heard.

That’s the message that Staff Council President Stuart Ivy hopes resonates throughout the group’s 2009-2010 term.
Paws for a cause: New community service project benefits county’s elementary schoolchildren
Children enrolled in Coile Middle School and each of the 14 elementary schools in the Clarke County School District received school supply donations from Paws for a Cause, a new community service project sponsored by UGA’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Donations from incoming first-year students at UGA summer orientation sessions and prospective students at Explore Georgia campus visitation events produced two large tubs of supplies for each school that were delivered in early August.
