Administrative Changes
Brenda J. Cude has been appointed head of the department of housing and consumer economics in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. Prior to joining UGA, Cude was a professor and extension specialist in consumer economics at the University of Illinois, Urbana.
She received her Ph.D. in consumer economics from Purdue in 1978; master of science in consumer economics and management at the University of Tennessee, Martin, in 1975; and her bachelor of science in home economics education at UT-Martin in 1974.
She has won a number of awards, including the Illinois Cooperative Extension Service Sustained Excellence Award in 1997 and the Purdue University Distinguished Alumni Award in 1996.
Richard Hudson, former director of corporate education at the Terry College of Business, became director of the board of regents’ Intellectual Capital Partnership Program in July. With this program, the centerpiece of the university system’s economic development initiative, Hudson will work with the system’s 34 institutions to form partnerships with business and industry to address the state’s workforce needs for the new century.
The following administrative appointments also have been made at the university since July 1:
James Judd Bason, interim director, Survey Research Center; Ralph G. Brown III, director, Studies Abroad Program; James C. Cobb, department head, history; Lyndon Goodly, director, animal resources; Cheri Hoy, assistant to the dean, education; David A. Knauft, associate dean, agricultural and environmental sciences; John Langone, acting department head, special education; William P. McCormick, interim department head, statistics; and John F. McDonald, department head, genetics.
