
Taxpayer ID numbers
The ITIN is needed by all foreign nationals who are ineligible for social security numbers and who receive payments from the university. In addition, all students and scholars in F-1 and J-1 non-immigrant status are required by law to file a yearly income tax return and must have either a social security number or individual taxpayer identification number to do so.
The Office of International Education is authorized to assist only international students and visiting scholars attending UGA or other foreign nationals who must have the ITIN to participate in UGA activities. For more details, call 542-1557.
Player auditions
Auditions for new company members of the Masters Hall Players will be held Oct. 5, beginning promptly at 2 p.m., in the Georgia Center's Masters Hall. Those interested in auditioning should be prepared to give a one-minute demonstration of their acting ability and be prepared to read "cold" with other actors.
Francophone slavery
The department of Romance languages will sponsor the conference "Slavery in the Francophone World" Oct. 15-16 in Masters Hall of the Georgia Center. The conference will include presentations, round tables, and a theatrical performance focusing on late 18th-century slave revolts in the French Caribbean and their impact on the American South. Habitat meeting
The UGA chapter of Habitat for Humanity will meet Oct. 8 at
6 p.m. in Room 141 of the Tate Student Center. Additional meetings are every other Wednesday meetings are every other Wednesday at the same time and location.
Overseas fair
The 13th annual Study, Work and Travel Abroad Fair is Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Georgia Hall of the Tate Student Center. Sponsored by the Office of International Education, the fair is open free to the public. For more information, call 542-1557 or stop by Room 210 Memorial Hall.
Counseling groups
The Counseling and Testing Center will offer the following group sessions during fall quarter: "Beyond Tolerance: Being Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual"; "Women in Transition"; "Diversity Awareness"; "Getting Closer and Closer"; "Creating the Relationship You Want"; "Men and Relationships." Journal Editors Group
The University Journal Editors Group will hold its fall meeting Oct. 9 at noon in Room 205 of the Journalism Building. Bring lunch; dessert will be provided. Discussion topics include the value of editing a journal to the editor and other faculty and staff involved in its production and the role of the university in supporting and nurturing journals produced by its faculty.
The group, formed this past spring, brings together UGA faculty and staff involved in editing scholarly or professional journals. All those involved in journal editing are invited.

Radio station alumni
Student radio station 90.5 FM, WUOG, will hold its 25th anniversary reunion Oct. 17-18. All alumni of the station are invited to return to the airwaves to host talk shows and spin their favorite old vinyls.
On Oct. 17 at 11 a.m., a birthday party, complete with cake and live entertainment, will be broadcast live from the Tate Student Center Plaza. The weekend also will include tours of the newly renovated studios, campus tours, parties at local clubs and a reception Oct. 18 in the Memorial Hall Faculty Dining Center.
