To nominate a faculty member, submit seven copies of the college/school nomination to the Office of the Associate Provost and Vice President for Research, 627-A Boyd Graduate Studies Research Center. If you have any questions about the nomination procedure, contact Sandra Fuller at

The deadline dates for research professionals remain the same.

Torrance Center Challenge Programs registration
The College of Education’s Torrance Center for Creative Studies will offer two Challenge Explosion classes for fall: “Patterns of Art” and “Patterns of Science.”
On two consecutive Saturdays, Nov. 7 and 14, three-hour workshops will be available for pre-schoolers (ages four and five) through eighth-graders. Budding artists will discover patterns in the art of Native American and other cultures, while young scientists will find out what bar codes, crystals, illusion, pendulums and tree rings have in common.
Classes for both art and science are being offered both Saturdays. Participants may register for one day or both days. Materials covered on each Saturday will vary, so that a child interested in just art (or just science) can take classes both Saturdays.
The Challenge Program is designed to help children explore and develop their creative potential. Over the past 20 years, thousands of youngsters have participated in hundreds of innovative projects and experiences. This year’s introduction of continuing themes will help participants learn about selected subjects in greater depth.
The Saturday workshops will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in Aderhold Hall. Tuition is $19 per course, per child. The deadline to register for the fall session is Oct. 28.
For more information about registration, contact Anita York at 542-5104 (e-mail ayork@coe.uga.edu).
