Giving to UGA’s future

www.uga.edu/giving/

Curious about gift-giving procedures and programs at the university?
The Web site maintained by UGA’s gift planning office offers guidance for those considering making a gift to the university--and for UGA faculty and staff who receive questions about gift-giving from the university’s alumni and friends.
In addition to clear explanations of the Presidents Club and the Heritage Society, the site outlines both current and deferred gifts. Cash, securities, real estate, personal property and the numerous varieties of estates, trusts and bequests are listed, with the advantages to the giver as well as to the university.
The most effective aspect of the site may be the page devoted to examples--brief explanations of why a few specific current donors have chosen to support the university with a major gift. One has arranged a bequest to fund an endowed scholarship; one is using the Pooled Income Fund provision to support a favorite university research center. One couple has set up a charitable remainder unitrust to benefit the law school. The examples personalize the complex process of supporting UGA.
