Associate dean for business school named

Management professor Robert D. Gatewood is the new associate dean for academic programs in the Terry College of Business.
Gatewood, a 27-year management professor at UGA and a former department head, is the second associate dean named to Dean George Benson’s administrative staff. James S. Trieschmann, the college’s only associate dean since 1987, has been named associate dean for faculty and research.
“For more than 20 years, the Terry College has had one associate dean. That administrative structure no longer serves a college of this size nor the breadth of our programs,” says Benson. “This restructuring will help us to improve the overall student experience and to manage our expansion in executive education and international programs.”
As associate dean, Gatewood will oversee all undergraduate and graduate programs in business and their accreditation.
These programs include the bachelor’s degree in business administration with more than 4,500 students, five master’s degree programs, led by the master of business administration degree and doctoral programs in business and economics.
An authority on human resource management and organizational behavior, Gatewood is co-teaching two introductory management classes--each with 300 students--and an M.B.A. course in leadership skills this semester.
