Student government elections
SGA would appreciate it greatly if professors would encourage their students to vote in the SGA elections on Feb. 24 and 25. Students may vote using OASIS from any campus computer. All students may vote for a presidential ticket, senatorial seats and the constitutional amendments. For more information, contact Jeff Waters, chair of the elections committee, at 542-8584.

Recreational classes
Recreational sports is sponsoring stroke clinics (session II) March 22–April 23 for all levels of student, faculty and staff swimmers. Registration starts Feb. 22, at the cashier’s window of the Ramsey Student Center. Fee is $40 for faculty and staff ($30 for students).
A free hydrobics (water aerobics) class is also being offered; the group will meet Feb. 22–26. Students, faculty and staff members can choose from 14 different classes offered throughout the day. Those who enjoy the classes can sign up for the rest of the semester for half off the original price. See flyers in the Ramsey Center for more details.

UGA position announcement
The Graduate School is now taking applications for the position of associate dean of graduate student affairs. Applications received by March 15 are assured full consideration. For a full description of the position, contact the Office of the Dean, Graduate School, at 542-4788.

Exercise program
The Clarke County Office of the UGA Cooperative Extension Service is offering a new program called Walk-a-Weigh.
This 12-week weight management and exercise program is designed to motivate those who want to eat less and exercise more.
Each week participants will share tips on ways to cut calories and increase walking. The group will meet on Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. at the Tate Student Center in room 141. The charge is $12 for the 12-week program.

Art, science courses for kids
The Torrance Center for Creative Studies invites youngsters to dive into the fascinating world of cycles. Three-hour workshops for both art and science will be held on March 20 and April 10. The Challenge Explosion is designed to help children explore and develop their creative potential.
The workshops are open to students four years old through the eighth grade and are held from 9 a.m. to noon. Tuition is $19 per course, per child, and all sessions are held in Aderhold Hall. Summer science camp
The State Botanical Garden is now accepting registrations for this year’s “Garden Earth” summer science camp. Four sessions are offered, all from 9 a.m. to noon each day: June 21–25, ages 6–7; June 28–July 2, ages 8–10; July 12–16, ages 6–7; and July 19–23, ages 8–10. Cost is $38 ($35 for garden members).
During each week-long program, children learn about the earth by exploring the natural and cultivated areas in the botanical garden. Outdoor experiments, games and trail walks highlight each day. Indoor gardening projects and crafts complement the outdoor adventures. Call 542-6156 for a registration form.
