A 15-member committee to recommend candidates for vice president for student affairs has been announced by Karen Holbrook, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost.
Dean Jack Crowley of the School of Environmental Design will chair the committee, which will recommend a successor for Dwight Douglas, who announced in December that he would step down as vice president June 30, 1999, and will retire from the university June 30, 2000. Douglas has headed UGAs division of student affairs for 24 years, the last 18 as vice president.

Barstow, professor of botany and cellular biology and chair of the University Council Executive Committee; Robert G. Boehmer, associate professor of legal studies and director of the SACS alternate self-study; Melissa A. Caines, administrative specialist in admissions; Ann R. Crowther, associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Damon M. Evans, associate athletic director for internal affairs; Holly C. Gooding, a junior genetics major from Clemson, S.C., and a Foundation Fellow; Kenneth D. Goyen, manager of family housing; Jacquelyn S. Kinder, director of the University Health Center; Earl T. Leonard Jr. (A.B.J. 1958, LL.B. 1961), senior vice president of the Coca-Cola Co.; Victor K. Wilson, assistant to the president; Roger B. Winston Jr., professor of counseling and human development; and Carol V. Winthrop, assistant vice president for academic affairs.
Holbrook says she plans to have the new vice president in place for the opening of fall semester 1999.
