![]() Kimberly Butler-Roberts Program Coordinator African-American Cultural Center TIME IN CURRENT POSITION: Eight months. JOB DESCRIPTION: The operation of a multi-faceted cultural center, including office supervision, budget management, maintenance of an art exhibition room, program development and adviser duties of three student organizations--a theatrical group, a dance company and an honor society. MOST CHALLENGING ASPECT OF MY JOB: Helping students to see the BIG picture and working with the groups through internal conflict. MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF MY JOB: Seeing the fruits of my labor. The people who make my work worthwhile are the committed ones who care about what they are doing, who are loyal and who set goals for themselves. THE ISSUE THAT CONCERNS ME THE MOST ABOUT TODAYS SOCIETY: Lack of morality, lack of respect for self and others, most of all apathy. I see a whole new change in the way we treat one another. I call it the Jerry Springer Syndrome, which is a lack of compassion as well as self-gratification as a result of others misfortunes. People are out of touch with their human spirit, and it troubles me. OFF-THE-JOB INTERESTS: Spending time with my family. Im a newlywed (Lawrence Roberts, November) and we do all sorts of things together. We have fun. FAVORITE MUSIC: I like a variety of gospel and R&B artists, like Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Brian McKnight and Patti LaBelle. A MOVIE ID RECOMMEND TO OTHERS: The Preachers Wife, because it is a movie about faith, determination and love. The film was very uplifting and made me feel good. I also enjoy Disney movies, drama, love stories, action adventure and science fiction. |
