Promotion, tenure process
Karen Holbrook, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost, will conduct a question-and-answer session on the promotion and tenure process for all interested faculty from 3:30 to 5 p.m. April 21 in room 204 Caldwell Hall.

Position announcement
The Office of the Vice President for Instruction invites nominations and applications for the position of assistant vice president for instruction in faculty affairs and related areas.
The assistant vice president will report directly to the vice president for instruction. Principal responsibilities include working with the staff of the Faculty Records Office in managing faculty records; coordinating university activity in program review and major assessment; implementing and managing the academic-honesty policy; and coordinating the undergraduate advising and retention programs. The incumbent will act as a liaison among all academic units in administering policies and procedures of the university and the University System. Other responsibilities are assigned by the vice president and may vary over time.
Qualifications include a minimum of five years of experience in a research university environment, with strong administrative experience and demonstrated leadership ability. A keen understanding of university policies and procedures as they pertain to the faculty is essential. The successful candidate should be attuned to the needs and concerns of students and be able to implement and oversee policies designed to address such issues. Candidates must have an earned doctorate or other terminal degree and experience as a faculty member or administrator. Review of applications will begin on May 1, with a starting date of July 1. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Complete applications must include a letter of interest and a curriculum vitae as well as the names, addresses and telephone numbers of three references.
