UGAs first year-round residential study-abroad program is planned for this fall at Englands Oxford University
UGA will begin its first year-round residential study-abroad program this fall at Oxford University in England.
Students and faculty participating in the program will live in a three-story Victorian house UGA has purchased--pending approval of the University System Board of Regents--in the heart of the city of Oxford and designated as the UGA Study Abroad Center at Oxford.
The purchase of the house, located about a mile from Oxford City Centre, was made possible by the University of Georgia Foundation, which will lease the house to the university.

Pharmacy dean finalists announced
A current pharmacy dean, an associate dean and a professor at universities in America and Norway have been recommended by a search committee as finalists to become dean of the College of Pharmacy.
One of the finalists may be named to succeed Stuart Feldman, who will step down as dean of UGAs pharmacy college June 30 to take a faculty position.
Four finalists are named in VP search
Three university student affairs executives and UGAs top attorney have been recommended by a search committee as finalists to become vice president for student affairs at the university.
One of the finalists will succeed Dwight Douglas, who retires this month.

Construction continues through the summer on two related projects, totaling some $1.86 million, which will virtually reconstruct Jackson Street through the UGA campus.

Growing international education program should be more fully integrated into curriculum
Student participation in international education programs--including study abroad and exchange programs--has grown steadily in the past several years and is projected to top 1,000 students during the coming academic year, according to David Coker, associate vice president, Office of International Education.
But a key to continued expansion is to have coherent programs that are integrated into academic programs and not just ancillary, Coker told the Institutional Strategic Planning Advisory Group at one of the groups recent breakfast sessions.

Construction of stadium skysuites begins
Construction of a $12 million addition to Sanford Stadium begins soon, pending approval of the University Board of Regents. The project, which will increase the number of skysuites from 30 to 50, is expected to take 14 months. The project will add 10 skysuites each to the east and west ends of the existing skysuite tower in time for the opening of the 2000 football season.
New Web-based catalog, circulation system goes online
A new Web-based catalog and circulation system, which will offer better management of materials, more convenient services, greater access by patrons and easier searching and links to Internet sites, will go online at the UGA Libraries this summer.
