Art Exhibition.
Fabled Impressions. June 19 through Sept. 19. Georgia Museum of Art. Open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. 542-4662.
Carmon Colangelo, director of the Lamar Dodd School of Art, served as guest curator for this exhibition of contemporary prints by 13 artists who use allegory and irony to comment on the political, spiritual and technological issues of the late 20th century.
The artists represented in the exhibition--Luis Cruz Azaceta, Randy Bolton, Lesley Dill, Bill Fick, Christopher Hocking, Laurie Sloan, Oscar Gillespie, Steve Murakishi, Sergio Soave, Jane Hammond, Kara Walter, Kurt Kemp and Jose Bedia--use poetic stories or fables to create meaning. Each artist stresses the necessity and importance of human or moral lessons, many employing visual narratives to edify a cautionary point about the human condition, says Colangelo.
