Student groups at Georgetown may seek corporate donations
A new initiative to provide Georgetown University student clubs and organizations with corporate funding is being strongly considered by the university’s administration. The proposed program calls for creation of the Georgetown Funding Commission, which would enable corporations to make tax-deductible donations to student organizations at Georgetown University and thus increase opportunities for corporations to donate financial and in-kind resources to the university.

Clark University, AAU founding member, to leave the organization
Clark University in Massachusetts announced recently that it plans to withdraw from the Association of American Universities, an organization which the school helped found, because the AAU has steadily moved its emphasis to large, major research institutions. Clark University is the first of several small member schools rumored to be on the move, as many feel the organization is seeking to narrow membership to research schools with clear interests in lobbying for federal money for basic research and graduate education.
