Former senior consultant becomes environmental safety division director
By Larry B. Dendy

Kenneth A. Scott, a senior consultant with the Atlanta environmental firm of Brown and Caldwell, has been chosen as director of the Environmental Safety Division at the university, effective Sept. 1.
Scott has been acting director of the division for the past seven months, evaluating and recommending improvements for the university’s environmental-safety program. He has played an active role in planning the clean-up of several environmental-waste sites recently discovered by UGA.
Scott holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University and has more than 20 years of business experience in the petroleum industry. He has worked extensively in the environ-
ental health and safety field.
“Ken Scott is highly qualified to provide leadership in environmental safety at the University of Georgia, and we are excited about his acceptance of this position,” says Allan W. Barber, senior vice president for finance and administration.
As director of the Environmental Safety Division, Scott is responsible for coordinating and overseeing management of hazardous waste, chemical and laboratory safety, radiation safety, environmental safety and industrial hygiene programs.
He also will coordinate environmental compliance within university departments and work with federal and state government authorities to ensure UGA’s compliance with applicable environmental regulations and laws.
