Palfrey Symposium looks at symbiosis
By Beth Roberts

The fourth annual Palfrey Symposium on integrative approaches to problems in plant biology will take place Oct. 15-16 in Griffith Auditorium of the Georgia Museum of Art. This year’s meeting, “Current Perspectives on Plant Symbiotic Systems,” will bring together researchers from around the world. The symposium is sponsored by the botany department and is open free to the public.
Sessions begin at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 15 and continue through the afternoon and following morning. Presenters include Martha Hawes (plant pathology, University of Arizona), Adam Kondorosi (Institut des Sciences Vegetales, CNRS, Gif-sur-Yvette, France); Robert Trench (ecology, evolution and marine biology, University of California at Santa Barbara); Thomas Bruns (plant and microbial biology, University of California at Berkeley); and Stephen Gantt (plant biology, University of Minnesota).
Following the first day of the symposium, a banquet will be held at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education. Tickets are $20, available from the botany department (542-1820).
