Position announcement
The College of Arts and Sciences invites nominations and applications for the position of assistant to the dean for budget and finance. The dean’s office has oversight responsibility for 30 schools, departments and degree-granting programs, as well as some 35 centers and institutes.
The assistant for budget and finance reports directly to the dean and is responsible for overseeing all fiscal and budgetary matters for the college. These include but are not restricted to financial accounting and reporting, financial systems, fund management, payroll, property management, personnel, budget processes and the travel-authorities approval process. This position provides instruction and guidance in budget processes among all units in the college.
Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in accounting, management, business administration or related field plus five years’ experience with finance administration in a university environment (or 10-15 years’ experience with finance administration in a university environment); strong administrative, interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to supervise and encourage employees; keen understanding of appropriate accounting and financial procedures. Open enrollment deadline
Dec. 1 is the deadline for open enrollment in many employee benefits programs at the university: health insurance (enroll, change or cancel coverage); dental insurance (decrease or cancel coverage); accidental death and dismemberment insurance (enroll, change or cancel coverage); med-flex (enroll for year 2000); and dependent care (enroll for year 2000).
