Spenser Simrill

In 2004, Spenser Simrill, Jr. received his doctorate in English from the University of Georgia. He has taught for five semesters at the UGA Cortona Program, developing courses in creative writing and documentary filmmaking. He has made documentaries for Of Montreal, UGA Cortona Studies Abroad, the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota. He has published articles on African American literature and is currently working on a manuscript on Brer Rabbit, Joel Chandler Harris and Walt Disney’s Song of the South. He is the creator of The Players’ Picnic: the Best of R&B, which plays Saturdays, 2-4, on 90.5 FM. On Monday evenings, you can find him at 1000 Faces Coffee discussing David Foster Wallace’s Infinite Jest and the Great American Novel.
