Admission Requirements
Criminal Justice
Studies has a selective admission procedure that requires a student
to be in good academic standing and have 30 semester hours of college
credit completed before applying. In addition to the 30-hour requirement,
prospective Criminal Justice majors must have completed the following
four courses with no grade lower than a “C.”
The average of those four classes (weighted equally) must be
at least a 2.5. Applicants must have at least four (4)
semesters remaining at UGA (including term of application and term of
internship).

Advising
Prior to admission
to the Criminal Justice Studies Program students should advise within
the College of Arts and Sciences. If a student's credit hour total exceeds
that office's limit and he/she does not meet the criteria for admission
to the Criminal Justice Studies Program, that student may need to enroll
in another major. If you enroll in another major in the College of Arts
and Sciences you may plan your program of study so that you could apply
to Criminal Justice Studies when the admission requirements have been
satisfied. Please see the criminal justice major curriculum.
Transfer Course
Credit for Major Courses
The UGA Office
of Admissions evaluates all incoming transfer credits. Please see
this site for equivalency information http://www.admissions.uga.edu/apps/transferequiv/
Once admitted
to the CJ Major, transfer students who have completed criminal justice
courses at another institution may petition for credit of courses
which transferred in as electives rather than major courses. In order
to petition for credit, the student will need to bring a copy of
the UGA transcript with all transfer credits listed and one of
the following: the transfer college catalogue, course syllabi, or
course texts.
