A scholarship fund was established by the Camden County Sheriff's Office in memory of Kenneth M. McCarthy. A lifelong resident of Camden County, Mr. McCarthy was born on December 12, 1922. He attended the Citadel and was a graduate of Gerogia Military College in Milledgeville as well as the University of Georgia (BBA 1949). By creating this fund, the Camden County Sheriff's Department honors Mr. McCarthy's advocacy of the law enforcement profession as well as his many contributions to the Camden County community. This $1000 need-based scholarship is designated for a UGA Criminal Justice major who plans to pursue a career in the field of criminal justice. Applications are due during the Spring term and the award is distrubuted with half of the funds given in the next Fall term and the other half in the next Spring term. Applications materials are available early in the Spring term at the Criminal Justice Studies Program Office, 221 Baldwin Hall, UGA.
