Dr. Hayes received his Ph.D. in English (with a specialty in modern American Literature) from The Florida State University and served as Associate and Acting Director of the Basic Writing Program at The Ohio State University before coming to UGA in 1983. His academic areas of interest lie primarily in written composition and rhetoric, but he also has taught courses in computer/information technology, gender and language, and study skills. In the past, he served as Co-Director of The Georgia Writing Project, and he currently coordinates Online @ UGA: Computer/Information Literacy at UGA.
