Jay Manalo is a doctoral student in the Counseling Psychology program at The University of Georgia and is a Graduate Assistant for Counseling in the Division of Academic Enhancement. He is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and also holds a School Counseling certificate in the state of Georgia. Jay received his Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and earned a minor in chemistry from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After working in the fields of information technology and human resources as a consultant, he decided to deepen his interest in working more closely with people by earning his Master of Education degree in School Counseling at The University of Georgia. His counseling and research areas of interest include counseling with students, Asian-American Psychology, qualitative research, career counseling, and play therapy. He has also completed Safe Space training through UGA's LGBT Resource Center. Outside of his counseling pursuits, Jay has also worked as an environmental education instructor. He is an ACA-certified whitewater kayak instructor and also studies ballet and hip-hop dance.
