Mission

The Center for Leadership and Service, Student Activities, and the Georgia Outdoor Recreation Program at UGA sponsor a series of summer programs called Dawg Camp for incoming first-year students.  Entering its 6th year, Dawg Camp has been highly successful in facilitating the transition from high school to college by providing participants with exposure to student life at UGA before move-in day.

Dawg Camp participants are mentored by upper-class student leaders and have the chance to make connections and get a head start on their college careers by learning about leadership, service, and involvement opportunities.

If you have an interest in Arts and Entertainment, the Outdoors, Community Service, or want to jumpstart your UGA Experience by meeting other first-year students, take a few minutes to look around the site to learn about our programs! With several options to choose from, there is something for every new University of Georgia student: Discovery, Adventure, Classic City, or Fusion. If several programs look interesting, it is possible to attend more than one session.

Dawg Camp participants…

  1. have a strengthened community of friends and feel like UGA is their home prior to move-in day.
  2. are mentored by upper-class student leaders and have the chance to make connections and get a head start on their college career by learning about leadership, service, and involvement opportunities.
  3. are more involved on campus and in leadership positions than those who did not participate.
  4. are more satisfied overall with their college experience.

Dawg Camp FAQs:

1)       Is there something for me?  Yes! There is something for every new University of Georgia student – Service, Outdoor Adventures, Culture, Involvement – each program is designed for different interests!

2)       Can I participate in more than one program?  Yes!  All four programs are exciting and unique, so participate in as many as you would like!

3)       When can I sign up? Applications are available online December 1, 2007, and you will receive a brochure with more detailed information once you commit to attend UGA.

4)       Should I sign up now?  Space is limited for all programs, so as soon as you know you are coming to UGA and can schedule one of our events, be sure to sign up!  Space is available on a first come, first served basis.
