Text Box: The Food Science club is a student organization, a student chapter of the national organization of the Institute of Food Technologists and consists of both undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at the University of Georgia. The purpose of the club is to assist student’s professional development, help students better understand society, develop teamwork skills and a sense of social responsibility and be prepared for the real world. This is done through organized student activities designed to enhance knowledge of food science, expose students to leader ship roles and meet professionals employed in their fields of study. Educational activities include training for a National College Bowl Competition and designing a novel food product to enter in a Product Development Competition. Other activities include volunteering for local charitable organizations and fund-raising events. Food Science club students are encouraged to join a national organization where they will meet professionals and other students currently working in their field of study. The meetings are usually held regularly every month. Lunch is provided without free of charge. Date and time of the meeting will be posted on the calendar. Everyone is welcome. If you are interested in joining the Food Science club or have any questions, please contact club officers or anyone in the club. The membership fee is $10. Click here to submit your interest.
