About the program

Each fall and spring semester, up to twenty University of Georgia students have the unique opportunity to live, work and study in Washington, DC through the Washington Semester Program. The Washington Semester is the University's only DC-based program that is open to undergraduate students in all colleges and schools at UGA, and it's only comprehensive program, combining coursework, internships and a residential living environment. As a student in the Washington Semester Program, you will:

  • Earn at least twelve hours of academic credit
  • Work at least 30 hours per week in an approved internship
  • Live with other program students in the nation’s capital
  • Connect with leaders in public policy, government and business
  • Participate in a variety of cultural, professional and social opportunities unique to Washington

Application Updates

The program will no longer accept applications for Fall 2009. The early deadline for Spring 2010 has passed and space remains for this term. Students interested in participating in the Spring 2010 Washington Semester Program are strongly encouraged to apply by the September 15, 2009 priority deadline.

While the priority deadline has passed, space remains for the Fall 2009 Semester. Apply now for an opportunity to witness history as it unfolds! Applications will be accepted until the program reaches its enrollment capacity.
