| Application
Eligibility
To be considered for participation in the Washington Semester Program, you must meet the following criteria:
- 3.0 minimum cumulative grade point average.
- At least Junior class standing by the term of participation.
- Good disciplinary standing.
- Completion of the Federal and Georgia Constitution requirement.
Application Instructions
- Complete and submit the application form. The application form and supporting materials may be submitted electronically, mailed or submitted in person to the Washington Semester Program Office.
- In addition to the form, you must submit (1) an official transcript, (2) a resume including the contact information for at least two references, (3) a 500-word typed personal statement indicating why you wish to participate in the program and (4) the course enrollment form which is included with the application. (Please note: You must enroll in a minimum of 12 hours during the semester. Consult your academic advisor regarding course selection.)
- Each term has a rolling deadline. Students who submit all application materials by the priority deadline will be considered first.
Fall 2008 Timeline
- February 29, 2008- Priority deadline for applications
- March 3 - March 21, 2008- Interviews will take place
- March 24, 2008- Program decisions are mailed to students
- April 21, 2008- Fall 2008 On-Campus Orientation
- September 3, 2008- Arrival in Washington, DC.
- December 20, 2008- Departure from Washington, DC
Spring 2009 Timeline
- April 18, 2008- Early Submission Deadline for applications*
- September 12, 2008- Priority deadline for applications
- September 15- October 3, 2008- Interviews will take place
- October 6, 2008- Program decisions are mailed to students
- December 2, 2008- Spring 2009 On-Campus Orientation
- January 7, 2009- Arrival in Washington, DC.
- May 1, 2009- Departure from Washington, DC
*Students who submit complete applications by this deadline will interview and receive notification by May 2, 2008.
2008-2009 Washington Semester Program Fees
All participants must pay the following fees to the University of Georgia:
- In-state Tuition*: $1,946-$2,248
- Technology Fee: $100
- Program Fee**: $5,250
*Rates listed are for 2007-2008. Tuition rates for 2008-2009 have not been finalized.
**This fee includes rent, utilities, Internet and program activities.
Student financial aid and scholarships may be used to pay for program costs. Contact the Office of Student Financial Aid to determine if your financial assistance can be used.
In addition to UGA fees, students are responsible for travel to and from Washington and all related living expenses that are not included in the program fee (i.e. meals).
