About the program

Each fall and spring semester, up to twenty University of Georgia students have the unique opportunity to live, work and study in Washington, DC through the Washington Semester Program. The Washington Semester is the University's only DC-based program that is open to undergraduate students in all colleges and schools at UGA, and its only comprehensive program, combining coursework, internships and a residential living environment. Students enrolled in the Washington Semester Program:

  • Earn at least twelve hours of academic credit
  • Work at least 30 hours per week in an approved internship
  • Live with other program students in the nation’s capital
  • Connect with leaders in public policy, government and business
  • Participate in a variety of cultural, professional and social opportunities unique to Washington

Application Updates

The priority deadline has passed for the Spring 2010 Semester. While it is unlikely that space will remain after Spring 2010 priority applicants are selected, you can still apply for an opportunity to witness history as it unfolds! Applications for the 2010-2011 year will be available in mid-October.
