Summer Programs

Honors in Washington Internship Program
The Honors in Washington Internship Program awards 10 students a $3,000 stipend to support their participation in an internship program in a congressional office, an executive agency, or a nonprofit organization. Placements are provided by the Honors Program. Students have the opportunity to earn academic credit for the internship, either through their major department (if available) or through an approved Honors Program internship course.

Successful intern candidates demonstrate a combination of outstanding academic achievement and campus leadership. Only second- and third-year Honors students (determined by date of enrollment, not credit hours) are eligible for this program. The selection process is highly competitive.

Applications for Summer 2009 will be due in mid-October 2008 and initial interviews of all applicants will take place in the following weeks. You will sign up for your interview appointment when you submit your application. After the first round of interviews, finalists will interview in late November. All internships must be a minimum of eight weeks and will take place in the summer of 2009. Placements will be determined by the Honors Program.

An information session regarding these programs will be held September 2008. Any student who is interested in the program is encouraged to attend. Past Honors in Washington Interns will be on hand to answer questions.

If you have questions regarding the Honors in Washington Internship Program, contact Mr. Don DeMaria, Director of the Washington Semester Program.
