"Do Good"

The Delta Iota chapter of Delta Gamma is involved in many campus and community philanthropies as well as our own national philanthropy, Service for Sight. Because of the many hours the sisters gave to awareness and service activities related to the visually impaired, the Delta Iota chapter of Delta Gamma was recognized as the top Service for Sight chapter for the 2004-2005 year.

Service Activities
  • Delta Iota also partners with Arbor Terrace, an assisted living facility, in the Golden Anchor program. The purpose of the Golden Anchor program is to assist Delta Gamma senior citizens, as well as other senior citizens who resided in all types of health care facilities. The chapter interacts with the residents at Arbor Terrace weekly for BINGO and socializing.
  • The chapter also hosts Anchor Splash® and Anchor Tee-Off. Delta Gamma thanks all those who helped in the success of Anchor Splash® this past fall. Our usual Anchor Tee-Off tournament will be postponed from spring 2006 until fall 2006.
  • The Delta Iota chapter collects soup labels for Campbell's® Labels for Education, as well as eyeglasses that are donated to the Lions Club.
  • Members of Delta Gamma also participate in and serve as leaders for both Relay for Life and Dance Marathon. We are very excited for both of the upcoming events this spring!

Delta Gamma sisters use these many opportunities to live by Delta Gamma's motto, "Do Good". Our philanthropic deeds also provide us with more opportunities to make memories with our sisters.

Anchor Splash®
Anchor Splash®

Anchor Splash® is one of Delta Gamma's most well-known and popular philanthropic events. Proceeds go to the Delta Gamma Foundation, which funds Service for Sight as well as the leading Greek program for member Scholarships, Fellowships and Loans. In 2004 Delta Iota was recognized as the collegiate chapter that gave the most hours to awareness and service activities related to persons who are blind or visually impaired, an honor we hope to continue. Our Anchor Splash® includes a Low Country Boil at the chapter house on Milledge Avenue, kicking off a week of activities ending on Saturday with swimming, diving, and relay race competitions at the Ramsey Center's Natatorium.

Every sister plays a role in this annual event. Some organize and coach teams before and during the Splash, while others time the races, coordinate judges during the event, or work check-in and T-shirt sales-the more people who come watch a team, the more points are added to the team's total. Each DG is vital to the success of this huge event!

Delta Gamma thanks all of those who helped in the success of Anchor Splash this past fall. Details on the 2006-2007 Anchor Splash will be available soon! Be on the look out in early spring 2007.

"The Big Event"

This past spring, Delta Gamma hosted "Delta Gamma Presents: Expose Yourself" which featured four local Athens' bands, including Beyond Tomorrow. On January 17, 2007 Delta Gamma will be hosting DG Diamonds and Aces Casino Night. The event will be held in the Memorial Hall Ballroom from 7-10pm. "The Big Event" proceeds The Children's Miracle Network.
