Minutes of the DLS: March 6, 2003

Minutes for March 6th

In true Demosthenian form, I am writing the minutes in the form of yesteryear.

Carl Pyrdum did it, so I figure I should as well. What’s good for Carl, well, in this case, it ain’t bad.

Check your bound copies downstairs and don’t blame me. It’s been a long week.

We had 1 first time guest and 3 second or third time guest and two alumni.

Mr. ______ was brought into membership

After Mr. Wesley gave us his mid-semester report report, Ms. Hines talked about flyer hanging.

In new business, Mr. Moulds presented

Where as Affirmative action is a violation of the 19th amendment and does not promote racial diversity, BIR That affirmative action should be banned from all undergraduate, graduate, and law school admissions processes. Respectfully submitted Steven Moulds.

Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Lewis, Mr. Pitts, Ms. Winchell, Ms. Parker, Ms. Prabhakar, Ms. Webb, and Mr. Cull spoke against the resolution with Mr. Addison, Mr. Theiss, Mr. Grosse, and a guest speaking in the negative. The resolution failed 8-10 among members and passed 2-1 among guests with myself abstaining.

I presented a resolution for getting the State House and Senate resolutions framed and hung. It was passed unanimously.

Mr. Smith presented the Brickheap award to Ingrid Newkirk, the President of PETA. It has been presented because the her organization has made a Hitler fallacy by saying that if you’re eating meat, you’re like Hitler. Hitler was a vegetarian, I mentioned, and Mr. Smith threatened my life. I say it was his fault.

Mr. Miller, Ms. Parker, Mr. Bogue, Mr. Addison, Mr. Hines, Ms. Winchell, and Ms. Aaron all spoke on the resolution before it was passed 22-1

Mr. Bogue presented

BIR Due to the exponential increase in ghost and monster related homicides across the nation, Ghostbusting should be made a state run enterprise like police and fire deparments. Res sub Cameron "Thunderrack" Bogue

Ms. Parker, Mr. Addison, Mr. Miller, Mr. Gallagher, Ms. Skrmetti, Mr. Theiss, Mr. New guy, and Mr. Cull spoke on the resolution. In my hand written notes, I have written, "What I do to entertain myself on the bench is none of your business," a quote attributed to Mr. Robert Vasher Wesley.
