The Seven C's of WebService Design
The University of Georgia

University of Georgia Web Group

The UGA WebService is maintained for the University of Georgia (UGA) community and other interested readers by University Computing and Networking UCNS. UCNS works in cooperation with the Georgia Web Group on page selection and design. Membership of the Georgia Web Group is drawn from several UGA departments and units, including the UGA Libraries, the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, University Communications, and UCNS. Past membership has included representatives from the Office of the Vice President for Research and the Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach.

Communication among the members is provided via a mailing list. This mailing list is set up so that anyone can post to the list, all the GWG members can post to and read the list, and subscription to the list is restricted to GWG members only. This arrangement enables us to maintain only one mailing list which provides client feedback and internal discussion. Quite often, this internal discussion is stimulated by client feedback. As a courtesy to all members of the group, answers to client queries are copied to the mailing list.

Historically, the Georgia Web Group is a reinvention of the Gopher Working Group. As WWW replaced Gopher as the University of Georgia's primary Internet information delivery tool, we simply changed our emphasis from Gopher to WWW.
