Ipomoea aquatica
From the Literature:
|
Rau muông is an herbaceous perennial aquatic or semi-aquatic plant that is most commonly grown in the tropics and subtropics. It is sensitive to frost and grows best between 75° and 85°F. The trailing stems are viney and hollow, adapted for floating in aquatic environments. Roots readily develop at nodes that are in contact with moist soil or water. The leaves may be arrowhead-shaped, 5 to 6 inches long, or fairly narrow and pointed. It is sensitive to frost and grows best between 75° and 85°F. When rau muông is ready for harvest (4 to 5 weeks after planting if in an aquatic environment, a little longer if in semi-aquatic environment), it should be cleanly cut and not torn. Seeds can be obtained from mature flowers which form seed-bearing pods. (Source: http://www.sfc.ucdavis.edu) |
