The original seedsaver of these cutshort beans plants them in a cornfield and "finger-seeds" them.  She first soaks the seeds which sprout in approximately three days.  She then plants the beans until August 15th and dries them inside.  If there is unexpected frost, then she uses a wooden plank to protect the plants.
