Office of Energy Services Formed |
The University of Georgia Office of Energy Services was formed May 1, 2006 to manage the over $ 28 million annual energy and utilities budget for UGA. The Office, which resides within the Physical Plant Division, will coordinate all aspects of energy resources at the University:
• Procurement of energy needs through leveraged buying agreements in conjunction with other Georgia state authorities and agencies
• Production of energy at the UGA Central Steam plant as well as distributed chilled water and hot water plants across campus from purchased raw fuels
• Distribution of energy from production or master metered facilities to UGA buildings via underground piping and wiring systems
• Optimization of energy resources via commissioning activities in existing and new buildings
• Promote energy awareness and conservation of on the UGA campus through partnerships with all UGA stakeholders
