The Proposed Center for Entrepreneurship will be the Terry College of
Business' premier networked resource to promote entrepreneurial activity
among students, alumni and researchers who are interested in improving
high-growth start up companies, and the related financing activities
of a start-up venture.
Mission:
The Center will promote entrepreneurship
as a cross-functional and collaborative opportunity between the Terry
College of Business, the University of Georgia, and the State of Georgia
business communities. The opportunity for entrepreneurial and venture
capital success will be universally strengthened by the collaboration
of these groups. Specifically, the Center for Entrepreneurship &
Venture Capital will:
- Build an entrepreneurial network of alumni,
faculty, and Georgia business
professionals through quality events, activities, and learning opportunities.
- Promote and gather academic research from
Terry College of Business faculty
in the areas of entrepreneurship and venture capital.
- Incubate and support the start-up ventures
originating throughout the University of Georgia system.
- Develop relationships with start-up companies
and venture capital firms in Athens, Atlanta, and throughout the
State of Georgia.
- Foster the development of new businesses and
entrepreneurial activity through an ongoing series of workshops,
entrepreneur executive panels and lectures, and continued support
of teams for business plan competitions.
Sponsored by the Terry MBA Entrepreneurship & Venture Capital Club:
The Terry MBA Entrepreneurship and
Venture Capital Club is devoted to providing an effective outlet
for MBA students to formulate and explore their creative ideas. Through
the club, students are able to meet other entrepreneurs, discuss business
plans, and actively participate in the formation and execution of various
events that the club sponsors. The organization provides students with
opportunities and resources for enhanced professional success by promoting
the entrepreneurial spirit throughout all facets of the business community
