Jenna Jambeck, assistant professor in the College of Engineering, is internationally recognized for her research on plastic waste in the ocean and for the Marine Debris Tracker app she co-created. She notes that being active in research helps bring current environmental engineering issues into the classroom for students.

Bug Dawgs to host Insect Zoo


The UGA Bug Dawgs of the department of entomology will host the 30th annual Insect Zoo Open House April 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the lawn at the Miller Plant Sciences Building. It will feature several activities including a photo booth, live bug exhibits, roach races, cricket spitting, beetle tractor pulls and much more.

Baseball team to host Vanderbilt


The Diamond Dogs will play a three-game series against Vanderbilt University at Foley Field. The games will be April 3 at 7 p.m., April 4 at 2 p.m. and April 5 at noon. Tickets are $5 to $8.


Rivkin to perform Romantic works
Faculty member and International Tchaikovsky Competition winner Evgeny Rivkin will perform April 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall. Rivkin will bring his sensitive touch to the Hugh Hodgson School of Music's brand new Steinway grand piano. The program will feature a broad selection of Romantic compositions for piano. Tickets are $18, or $5 for students.
