In order to accommodate its growing customer base, the University of Georgia recently completed an $850,000 renovation to one of its oldest facilities, Snelling Dining Hall. With meal plan sales at an all time high (5800 at present; meal plans are not mandatory at UGA), the all-you-care-to-eat dining hall would have had to severely compromise its services without the much needed upgrade.
Last renovated in 1979, Snelling Hall now features more seating(160 new seats) and increased points of service. New concepts include Cerca de las Papas (Mexican cuisine and baked potatoes); Veg-yums (vegetarian) and A.M. All Day (omelets made to order all day).Expanded options include Greens (fresh salads); Ladle & Loaf (soups and deli sandwiches); Sanford Grill, BLD@S (entrees and side dishes); Giorgio's (pizza and pasta); and Sweet Suite (desserts).
"The response to the renovation from both students and parents has been overwhelmingly complimentary," says J. Michael Floyd, FSD. Snelling has realized a 20% increase in customer service since it reopened this fall.
