A message from Director J. Michael Floyd
The competition deadline was October 18th
Dear parents,
My staff and I would like to extend a special invitation to you to participate in our national-award-winning special event “Taste of Home.” Each year the department solicits and receives hundreds of our students’ favorite recipes that are submitted by their parents, and a number of them are selected to be served to meal plan patrons.
This event has been an annual tradition for the department since 1987 and more than 2,400 recipes have been featured in our dining commons since the event began. Each year, approximately 120 of these recipes are selected by our management and culinary teams to be featured in our four dining commons on a special day during Fall Semester. Each parent that submits a recipe receives two complimentary meal passes that can be used during the next campus visit. For each recipe that is selected to be featured, the parent receives a Food Service production recipe for 8,000 servings of their special food item and a special commemorative University of Georgia Food Services “Taste of Home” dinner plate. We encourage parents to strive for a collection of four plates to honor their student’s academic enrollment at The University.
This special event has a unique twist since the very best of these recipes are then incorporated into the Food Services meal plan menu cycle. Many of our recipes have come from our students’ parents. Some current student favorites, just to name a few, are:
Poppy Seed Chicken || Eclair Squares || Divine Casserole
We encourage you to participate in this event and help us “Let the Big Dawg Eat” here at the University of Georgia.
Let the Big Dawg Eat!
