| Student governance at the Franklin Residential
College is organized into several committees and a main committee
comprised of the heads of the various committee. The three
FRC resident assistants and four FRC members elected in early
April comprise the management council,
serving as managers of the main committee. Each FRC member
must participate in the work of at least one committee in
a satisfactory manner in order to continue his or her membership
the following year.
FRC members are required to attend the organizational meeting
for the committees, held the week following convocation.
At the meeting, the committees organize themselves how they
wish and develop an agenda for the year, including requesting
funds from the FRC budget and dates on the FRC calendar
for specific events or activities.
Whatever approach to organizing each committee decides,
it must designate one person as of the end of the organizational
meeting to serve on the main committee. The main committee
meets monthly, with
each head responsible for delivering an update on upcoming
committee efforts. The meeting is chaired by one of the
members of the management council.
The main committee works with the dean in allocating the
FRC budget. The dean is responsible for the strategic direction
of the FRC and the graduate fellow is charged with the administration
of the residential college, working with the offices on
campus that fund the FRC – the Franklin
College of Arts and Sciences, the office of the Vice
President of Instruction, and the division of University
Housing.

they do, and contact information for a member or members
of each, please click here.
Priority for selecting rooms at Rutherford Hall is managed
by the housing committee and is determined by participation
in organizing and attendance at FRC intellectual, cultural,
service, and selected social events. The management council
tallies points, disseminates information about them, and
determines what is participation among members in a satisfactory
manner using the points system as a measure.
We distribute the annual FRC t-shirt at (and only at) the
meeting.
