The Franklin Residential College infuses the intellectual and cultural excitement of a world-class university into the residential experience of our nearly 160 students.
The FRC is a mix of students studying the humanities, the fine and performing arts, the social sciences, and the basic sciences. Our students include freshmen through seniors, most living in historic Rutherford Hall for multiple years. A faculty family lives at Rutherford Hall, regularly hosting groups of students in their apartment and adding to the feel of the FRC as a small college within a great university.
The residential college, established in 2000, is a partnership among the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, the Vice President for Instruction, and University Housing. It is modeled on the residential colleges established at Oxford and Cambridge and that are common at Ivy League institutions.
