The nearly 160 FRC students live at historic Rutherford Hall on the Myers Quad with a faculty member and his family, and interact regularly with 30 or so Franklin College of Arts and Sciences faculty associated with the residential college.
Our students apply for a space at the FRC. We admit students each Spring interested in and committed to participating in the active intellectual, cultural, and social life of the only residential college at UGA. The FRC is open to students majoring or minoring in one of the 30 Franklin College of Arts and Sciences departments or schools and includes first year students through seniors
J. Douglas Toma, who is an associate professor at the Institute of Higher Education and also teaches at the law school, is the FRC dean. He and his wife, Linda, who is assistant dean for external affairs at Franklin College, and their five-year-old son, Jack, have lived at the FRC since April, 2004.
Franklin College of Arts and Sciences faculty from across its 30 departments are affiliated with the FRC. The faculty fellows are the core of the FRC community, joining us for our major events, giving occasional talks on a topic of their choosing, and otherwise participating and the life of the college.
