Minutes for Wednesday, 14 January, 2004
The fourth organizational meeting for G.A.M.S. was called to
order by Ms. Tiffany Adams at 2:40pm on the basement floor
of Park Hall. The following members were present:
Mrs. Tiffany Adams, President
Mrs. Keely Byars-Nichols, Vice President of Pedagogy
Ms. Ondra Thomas-Krouse, Vice President of
Administration
Ms. Anastasia Wright, Vice President of Conferencing
The following business items were discussed:
Old Business
The primary focus of this meeting was to discuss optional
venues for garnering the necessary funding for the fall
interdisciplinary conference.
New Business - Conference Report
• President Adams encouraged members present to review
the list of suggested venues and for each member to contact
her suggested organization regarding conference funding.
• President Adams reminded the group that “We need a
speaker.” Drs. Powell and McCaskill, as well as Mrs. Suzi
Wong, are helping President Adams to re-structure the letter
of invitation to possible speakers. These same individuals
are also providing the G.A.M.S. organization with other
possible options for selecting a keynote speaker for the
conference.
Pedagogy Report
The search and ordering process for an official English
1102M textbook is currently in progress. Vice President
Byars-Nichols will continue to update the group of the
progress of this endeavor.
Announcements/Related Issues
President Adams, along with Vice Presidents Byars-Nichols,
Wright and Thomas-Krouse will represent G.A.M.S. at a Multi-
cultural networking event, hosted by the UGA Career Center
on Wednesday, 21 January, 2004 from 5:30-7:30pm in the
Reception Hall of the Tate Student Center. The attire
is “Business Casual.” President Adams will send an e-mail
to notify group members of a central meeting place so we can
travel together to this event.
Action Items:
All members – Members present voted to hold official
meetings on the first Wednesday of every month (excluding
June, July and August) at 2:30. The President will notify
the members prior to each meeting of a suggested location.
- Communicate with President Adams within the next two
weeks, of the official duties of her particular office.
-Communicate with the organizations and/or persons suggested
on the list of possible venues of funding for the G.A.M.S.
fall conference.
Vice President Wright –Solicit assistance for the fall
conference. G.A.M.S. currently has six (6) active members,
three of whom have commitments that may conflict with their
involvement in the fall conference.
