The Georgia Museum of Art wants you to become a member of the most vital part of the department of education, the Docent Program. Docents at the Georgia Museum of Art turn educational programs into reality by leading tours of the museum, assisting at educational events and acting as advocates for the museum.

The Requirements

No teaching experience or knowledge of art history is needed. All we ask of you is...

  • An initial nine-month commitment to the training program and an additional year of service
  • Membership in the Friends of the Georgia Museum of Art
  • Active participation in Docent Education (September-May)
  • Availability to attend a weekly Docent Education course (Mondays from 10 a.m. to noon)
