New Discoveries in Georgia Painted Furniture
January 26, 2008 - April 27, 2008

New Discoveries in Georgia Painted Furniture features approximately two dozen examples of furniture made in Georgia in the 19th century and ornamented with painted designs. The ornamentation includes representational imagery, abstract patterning and grained surfaces. These works, most of which have not been displayed previously, attest to the wealth of painted furniture created and owned in Georgia. There will be a large brochure published to accompany the exhibition, which coincides with the Fourth Henry D. Green Symposium of the Decorative Arts.
