The muse in the museum needs to come from somewhere, and frequently, the Friends of the Georgia Museum of Art provide us with inspiration. This diverse group of individuals and businesses is responsible for much of the private support the museum needs to bring in high caliber exhibitions. The Friends are involved in every facet of the museum's activities, assisting with fund-raising, exhibition openings, acquisitions, educational programming, and special events. It's not, however, a one-way friendship. The museum gives something to you, too: the chance to learn about art in a fun, informal setting, to meet great people with similar interests, and to feel a sense of satisfaction at contributing to the state museum of art's goal to promote the visual arts throughout Georgia (as well as the many tangible benefits of membership). If the words "life without art" seems as awful to you as they do to us, we'll have to quote Casablanca to you and say: We have the feeling this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
